A little about us
Hello everyone, I am Pamela. I have been around animals all my life. I or my family have owned cows, raised bottle fed calves, horses, chickens, hogs/pigs, goats, dogs, cats, and even some not so domestic animals like o'possums, baby deer, etc. Any animal that needed a home or someone to nurse them back to health were brought to me and my mom first. I have always had a love of animals and that love continues to grow all the time. In high school I knew that I wanted to become a Vet. I worked and studied hard and was accepted into Veterinary School. Well, my senior year I met a guy that changed my life. His name is Rocky and we have been married over 12 years now. I fell in love and turned down Vet school to stay home with him. Well that and the idea of living over 300 miles away from my parents.
Rocky bought me a Siberian puppy right after we got married. You will find pictures of him on our Males page. His name is Prince "Red" Yukon and he is the love of our lives. Soon after we got Red, a Siberian breeder close to us decided to go out of business due to a car wreck. That is where I got my first breeding pair of Siberians. For the last 10+ years I have done a lot of reading, studying, and learning about Siberian Huskies.
Rocky was not keen on the idea of breeding at first. He was never around animals growing up like I was. Now you would never know. He loves all the dogs and cats we have and acts like a child when he plays with them.
Southern Huskies is located in the small town of Waco, Georgia (just outside of Bremen). We are 45 miles West of Atlanta and 9 miles East of the Alabama State Line. We are dedicated in preserving the true original working Siberian husky. With owning Red we knew that we had found the perfect breed for us, and an outstanding friend, and companion. We have been dedicated to the Siberian husky ever since. We spent a lot of time researching the breed only to discover that there are so many breeders, but yet so very few who are dedicated to preserving the true original working Siberian husky. Due to the fact that we don't get much snow here our dogs are trained for carting and working. It is a fun and enjoyable way to exercise our dogs, and let them enjoy doing what they were originally intended to do.
Our main goal is to produce sound healthy pups with the desire to work.
We have a selective breeding program and we work hard and make every effort to produce top quality healthy pups. We breed our Siberians to produce pups with great temperaments and a strong desire to work and be outstanding companions. We breed to produce the purest Siberian lines.
We do not breed for eye or coat color. We feel these are the wrong reasons to breed any breed of dogs.
